Karaman is one of our cities located in the Central Anatolia Region. It is a city that has had its share of the historical heritage of these lands called steppe. It is known that the Hittites, Lydians, Phrygians and Romans lived in this region. The name of the city comes from Karamanoğulları, one of the Turkish principalities.

KARAMAN CASTLE

Karaman Castle, thought to have been built at the end of the 11th century, is one of the historical symbols of the city. It has a structure consisting of three parts called outer, middle and inner castle. The interior of the castle, which bears traces of the Bronze Age, Roman and Byzantine periods, was repaired by the Ottomans in 1465. Karaman Castle is closed to visitors as the exhibition and arrangement projects continue. When the works are completed, it will be opened to the public as a museum. You can only see it from the outside for now.

INCESU CAVE

Incesu Caves, located in an area close to the center of Karaman, are located near the İncesu river. There are traces of Romans in the cave, but it is not known exactly which period it belongs to. It is said that it may have been built before the Romans. Incesu Caves, as well as attracting visual interest; It also attracts visitors because its water and its oxygen are thought to be good for heart diseases.

MANAZAN CAVES

These caves, which were carved by hand from volcanic limestone, date back to the 6th century. There is a structure with rooms inside the cave and it is said that this order is one of the first examples of today’s apartment system. It is also thought that some of these rooms were designed as chapels. It is located in the town of Taşkale, which is connected to the center of Karaman.

MERASPOLIS CAVE

The third oldest known cave in the world is Meraspolis. It is located in Ermenek, the most well-known district of Karaman. Inside the cave, which has two different entrances, there is a layered layout.

NEW WORLD CAVE

It is a naturally formed cave located on the bank of the Göksu River. The waters of the small pond at the bottom of the cave also meet with the Göksu River. It is possible to say that this natural structure has an impressive atmosphere. It should be seen.

MADENSEHRI VILLAGE

Madenşehri Village is one of the oldest settlements of Karaman and is referred to as a ruin place. The history of the village dates back to ancient times and there are ruins especially from the Byzantine Period. The most important structure of the village, whose basilica and cistern remains are frequently encountered, is the Binbir Church, which is thought to have been built 500 years ago. Those who like to add archaeological stops to their itinerary should definitely go here.

KARAMAN MUSEUM

The museum, located in the central district of Karaman with the same name, is the most important museum of the city. Most of the artifacts unearthed as a result of archaeological excavations in Karaman and its surrounding regions are exhibited in this museum. It is a museum where not only historical artifacts but also ethnographic items are exhibited.

ZEYNE MARKET

Between June and October, this market area is a real natural wonder where products produced by the local people are offered for sale . In this area, which impresses people with its 600-year history, nearly 300 historical plane trees will welcome you. It also has a peaceful ambiance with its watermills and cold stream. It is possible to go to Zeyne Pazarı, located in Yaylapazar Village of Ermenek, by private or rental vehicles.

ERMENEK TURKUAZ DAM

Located in Ermenek, the Turquoise Dam was built on the Göksu River in 2002. You can have a picnic in this area where green and blue meet, and take a canoe or boat ride on the lake. It is even possible to do activities such as sailing and diving.
